about

As the title suggests the a EP is about youth, and the worries, challenges, curiosities and desires that accompany it. You can download it for free or whatever price that you want to pay. If you download it for free then please, in return, share it with your friends and if you pay for it, well it wouldn't hurt to do that as well. Re-post it, Re-tweet it. That sort of thing, and hey, who knows? Maybe it will avalanche its way into thousands of ears. Maybe an avalanche is to much to hope for and a snowball would be more accurate a metaphor. Either way, I hope you like it and I hope your friends do too.

Track Name: As We Fall
Don't know how long i've been standing here for
shivering in the dark,
Until the lights came on and what was once just fun
was now an over-riding spark.
And it flashed and it banged and it flew right in
and it almost knocked me down,
and it sang of love and of a spectral flood
that would sweep me off the ground.
But the natural shackles are hard enough amongst
the waves of discontent, and the day is bright
and the path is long, and we'll be easy to prevent.
So if you don't mind the wait, I'll stay here where I am,
Standing in the dark, with the lights turned off
holding on to what I can.

It was not so bad beneath the guise of night,
left alone with my breath and my faith
as the wind whistled it's solitary tune
that sang of the fallen day.
And of a man he'd seen earlier in the week
as lonely as he was upset
he wore a top hat filled with broken memories
and a trench coat made of regret.
He said the problem with men like him
is that they don't realize until it's too late
that nobody else is gonna write their wrongs
gonna drag the shit away.
Even so I said, I still rather wait, and stay here where I am, Standing in the dark, with the lights turned off
holding on to what I can.

This room is dark but darker still
is the sweet release of death,
said a voice in my head quoting a book that he'd read
about a boy with nothing left.
In here you can hear the birds outside
as they sing and they shriek and they call
in here you can hear the time slip by
but in death there is nothing at all.
So come with me and live amongst a plague of the deceitful, you'll be purged and stretched and you'll
raped and you'll be burnt
but at least you'll be an equal.
I said i'm not ill i'm not mad i'm not broke i'm just sad
so I think i'll stay where I am.
Standing in the dark, with the lights turned off
holding on to what I can.

The stars they fall like glass, and everything will shine
as we fall slowly backwards through time.
Track Name: The Stuff of Youth
Let's light a match and start a fire
and watch it all go up in smoke
and turn our back on a past where
all we did was choke on the dreams
and the hopes that we laid in front of us
perchance we'll see them come to life
as the fire turns to dust.
And as we dance in the field where
our memories still burn,
the dying embers of the flame
tell us that we will never learn
the stuff of youth, the stuff of life
until we're grey and old,
for now the fire is drawing in
and the night is getting cold.

Let's cast a rope out to the sea
and get away from what we saw,
we'll go as far down as we can,
we'll go down to the ocean floor
and pack a bag with all our fears
and then we'll be okay,
and the tide will go out eventually
and we'll all be washed away.
Then we'll float out in the black
just like we've always wanted
since they took one look at us
and told us we were only kids.
Too young to feel too young to love
too young to understand the cause
but now we're safe and we're alone
and I will be forever yours.
Track Name: Desespoir
[Extracts from 'Desespoir' by Oscar Wilde]

In the breath of the morning, I stood and I waited
The pleasure was great, the risk was calculated,
and I don't know how long but I was there for a while
and as the brisk wind blew, I let out a secret smile.
I smiled for love and for the warmth of the sun,
I smiled for whispers and I smiled for fun,
but in a couple of hours when the drink wears off
the day will turn sour and the smiles will stop.

I clenched my fist when you held out your hand
so if you don't want to kiss me, I will understand
and I turned away when you looked into my eyes
so if you don't want to love me,
it won't come as a surprise.
Many have tried and many have left
and I remember them all, though I've tried to forget.
So if you want to leave I don't care anymore,
I'll be poring a drink as your closing the door.

And a little boy is laughing
as he stops to think of pain
and how we like to think it's different
but in the end it's all the same.
And no matter how hard we dance
we won't dance away the rain
and if everybody is innocent
then who the f*ck's to blame.

I dated a girl who was afraid to sing
afraid of the hope her melody would bring.
She was scared of the world
and she was scared of herself
and she ignored my concerns
and yet she prayed for help.
I said if you can't help yourself, than neither can god
your troubles will stay whether you like them or not.
She said I don't talk to you
because you don't understand
I don't want his help, I just want him to hold my hand.

They all leave soon enough and she left as well
and they all leave their mark and a tale to tell
and right to this day I still do not know
whether she was trying to save face
or trying to save her soul.
And no one will know because no one will ask,
if she makes sure of anything, she'll make sure of that
hidden in a smile she'll be a strong man's bride
and she'll promise him her heart
if he won't look to far inside.

And a painter holds his brush
as he stares into the mirror
and paints on what he wants to see,
what he wishes he'd been given.
But the more of the paint he splashes
the more he needs to cry
to sooth the cracks inside his broken heart
that his brush will never find.

[Extracts from 'Desespoir' by Oscar Wilde]

A tangle of bodies lie awake at the dawn,
their hearts are racing and their eyes are sore.
They've both got what they came for
and they both want to leave,
but they're still holding hands as they fall asleep.
At mid-afternoon when sleep lifts its veil,
they wake with a kiss although their breaths are stale and they don't want them to but their bodies will press, because it's so easy to love
when you're already undressed.

So lets blow out all the torches
and dance into the night
and lose ourselves in ecstasy
until the darkness turns to light.
The winds will blow and the storms will roll
and the night will soon turn cold,
but it all seems so much easier
when you have someone to hold.
Track Name: Crush(ed)
You may be wondering why when i'm around
I'm always staring at the ground.
It's because i'm scared that if you look into my eyes
you'll see the pain that lies inside.
It's the way you do your hair
and the way you dress like you don't care
who might give up their time to give a fuck.
When you're not looking I tend to stare
i'm not proud of it and even if I were
i'd still not have the courage that I need
to talk to you and try and make you laugh
to ask you whether you were ever looking back
at me, oh no, how could you possibly be?

Love is this game we play
and the pieces are made this way
and if we don't move ourselves
then we're pushed.

So I might as well admit the truth
that i'm drowning in my love for you
and I don't think love had ever hurt so much...
I'm crushed, crushed, so fucking crushed.

Out of all the people in this town
that I could run into when i'm out and around
it always seems to be you and I kinda want it to be to.
Not as if the words get caught in my mouth
and it's not as if I can't figure out just what it is
that I want to say.
It's just that me and you, we just can't be
and I've always known and I can see
that I don't have a place in your heart
I haven't had one from the start.
Your nice and you sure are kind
but if i'm out of sight I know i'm out of mind
there's no second thoughts for me
oh no, how could there possibly be?

Love is this game we play
and the pieces are made this way
and if we don't move ourselves
then we're pushed.

So I might as well admit the truth
that i'm drowning in my love for you
and I don't think love had ever hurt so much...
I'm crushed, crushed, so fucking crushed.
Track Name: Afterword
If we don't hide then we'll surely cry
but in our hearts we know the truth
we'll never know anything in life
unless we learn the stuff of youth.
